Alexa Shopping Internship

After completing my junior year at SCAD, I had the opportunity to intern as a UX Designer within the Alexa Shopping org. Over the summer I worked on multiple consumer facing voice and touch customer experiences for Alexa devices. After completing my three month internship I was offered a full time role, where I later joined the same org after completing my degree at SCAD.

My role at a glance
As an intern with Amazon I got the opportunity to work on many different types of projects during my 12 weeks in Seattle. These ranged from:

Personal project as a part of the Alexa Voice Academy at Amazon
During the first week of my internship I got learn the fundamentals of conversation design from senior VUI designers at Alexa, and then take what I learned to flesh out my own concept of an Alexa Skill.

Launched a KindleUnlimited sign-up CX on all echo devices
I got to create an entire CX end to end, where customers could sign up for KindleUnlimited on all Alexa echo devices. I had to work hand and hand with engineering to hand this off, where it eventually launched in the US following my internship.

Concepting what actionable ads could look like both today and in the future on echo devices
I collaborated with my manager to build scenarios personas, then wireframe and prototype new multi-modal actionable ad template designs. I also began creating guidelines for actionable ads to lay the foundation of a self-serve model for external advertisers.

Created a CX vision for how customers could order food with Alexa during Thursday Night Football
Unfortunately, I can’t share any visuals online for this despite it being one of my favorite projects I worked on. However, if you send a message I'd love to chat about my experience and speak to what we created.
